How to connect/add GoDaddy Subdomain to Blogger/Blogspot (Step by step)
Blogger is one of the most popular options to start a blog from scratch. One of its most important features is that Blogger, owned by Google, is completely free to use. You only need to create a free Gmail or Workspace account. If you would like to add a custom domain, such as .com, .net, .ai, .com.au, and others, you will need to purchase/register it with a domain provider.
Domain prices can range from $1.95 to $83, depending on your business industry. In Australia, we recommend GoDaddy, as it is one of the easiest and most intuitive services. Once you have these two services, you can start your blog.
1. Create your Gmail account and sign in.
2. Create your blog
A. First, you will need to create the name of your blog.
B. Second, add a .blogspot.com domain.
3. Go to settings and check the 'Publishing' menu."
4. "Select the 'Custom Domain' option, and a window will expand. Here, you will need to enter your subdomain. For this example, you should first purchase a domain from GoDaddy.
Write your domain in the following order:
Example:
subdomain.yourdomain.com
5. After entering your domain, click 'Save' and review the CNAME codes provided by Blogger. Keep both codes separate and ready for use
Example:
CNAMEs: (Name: caviantoblog, Destination: ghs.google.com)
(Name: 32pmfjd, Destination: gv-6hfsqkhxusgooglehosted.com)
6. Log in to GoDaddy and navigate to your domain portfolio. Select the domain you wish to use for your blog.
7. Navigate to the DNS settings and click 'Add a New Record.
A. Enter each CNAME code provided earlier. You will need to add a total of two CNAMEs. The Caviar here is to use the same subdomain from Blogger and input it into the 'Name' field in GoDaddy
First Record:
Type: CNAME
Name: caviantoblog
Value/Destination: ghs.google.com
Second Record:
Type: CNAME
Name: 6qbhcybjyj5dl
Value/Destination: gv-8ytrfghhxusgooglehosted.com
8. Return to Blogger and click 'Save.' Your new subdomain will be added.
9. The final step is to enable the 'HTTPS Availability' and 'HTTPS Redirect' options.
A. Once done, you can review your blog.
Blogger provides an intriguing option where you can host your main website on a basic plan with platforms like Webflow, Wix, or other website builders, while simultaneously hosting your blog on the Blogger platform for free using the same domain.
